Head of Student Loan Company called to Resign

Recorded: 9th November 2009

In the wake of the 2009 academic year, reports emerged of late student loan payments. As the months past, thousands of students across the UK were still without a single penny to fund daily life at university.

As a student at Canterbury Christ Church University at the time, access to some victims of the problem could not be easier. I also contacted the university's finance team and secured an interview with the head. He told us that 1 in 4 students at Christ Church were still without their loan at the time.

As there was already a lot of media attention on the loan crisis, the angle of this package was focused on hearing some of the stories of a handful of students, and an update to the saga - the National Union of Students (NUS) had criticised the actions of the SLC and asked for the head, Ralph Seymour-Jackson to step down.
