Students Protest in West Minster over Student Fees

Recorded: 11th November 2009

During a meeting for 'Unified', my university student newspaper, I was told about a last minute protest organised by the National Union of Students. I instantly thought this would be a good opportunity to 'break away' from my usual localised-Canterbury journalism.

I joined a few hundred students and managed to get some fantastic footage on the streets and within Parliament, as David Lammy spoke and numerous MPs entered to sign the pledge against a rise in Fees. Plus I got footage of students on Parliament Square and managed to speak to a few students who gave their views.

Best of all, I managed to get an interview with the then-president of the NUS Wes Streeting which made the piece look extra professional. The only disappointment is that I didn't get any time to do a piece to camera to give my trademark to the package, but it's obviously not always necessary.
